Valentines for Valentine's

We had an excellent Valentine's Day/ President's Day weekend!!! We found some cheap tickets and flew to the Big Island with Andrew and Krystalee Friday night, and then Tyson, Cambria, and Jeffrey flew to Kauai on Monday morning and returned Tuesday evening.

We started Valentine's Day by going to the Kona Hawaii Temple. Currently the Laie Temple is closed (and will be until June 2010) and so all ward/ stake Temple trips now involve an airplane to get there. It's odd to not be able to just drive to a Temple. We did baptisms with Krystalee's ward, and then Tyson and I did some initiatories for family names. I found these family members while looking up census records last year, and it made it fun that they were done on Valentine's day.

We then hiked to Captain Cook's Monument to do some quality snorkeling. We spent most of the day there, then did a little more snorkeling at Hanaunau at sunset. We even swam next to a couple of turtles there!

After it was too dark to snorkel, we drove to the Volcano National Park and found a private camp spot for the night. We set up our huge, brand-new 7 man tent in the howling wind and tried to sleep for the night. The tent was way too big for it to be quiet (but a pole broke on it, so we promptly returned it).

I tried adding the pictures for all the other things, but the site is having issues right now.

That does sound like a good weekend. Snorkeling especially sounds fun. I have never actually done that before. What did you do with Jeffery while you were snorkeling?

We took turns snorkeling (we only had two sets for the four of us anyway), and we also have a baby life jacket for Jeffrey that we put him in to float around. He didn't really like that for very long though. It just turned into play time.
