Day 5-Thursday: Cave Day and Mt. Rushmore again

5 days of camping and still smiling! We camped on the side of trail this night, and had to haul our stuff up there and back (maybe a quarter of a mile or so). Tyson had the backpacked masterfully packed so he could do it all ;)
We had basically stayed in South Dakota an extra day just to do these caves, all the tours were unusually full for this time of year and we couldn't get into Jewel Cave (world's second largest cave) until Thursday. Wind Cave (world's 5th largest) was also awesome.

Mt. Rushmore, one more time!

Our one souvenir (besides pictures) from the entire trip.

Camping in Badlands National Park--the one night our planned campsite was actually open!

Cambria, it's been so fun reading about your vacation because you're reliving the one we took many years ago. We stayed at all the same places, went to the Sylvan Lake, hiked through Jewel Cave, and took lots of pictures of Mt. Rushmore. We were just talking about how fun that was the other day, and then you posted about it. Looks like you had as much fun as we did!
