May 11: Cambria leaves for Utah on the train to go to a cousin's wedding
May 17: Tyson fixes the car and leaves for the Yampa River with Donny and a friend
May18-21: Tyson is on the Yampa. They get off the river late, and Donny's wife (Alyssa) and I almost called search and rescue on them.
May 22: Tyson gets to Utah, where he spends the next 4 days (the longest consecutive period of time in Ogden with our family the entire summer).
May 26: We leave for Muddy Creek/California (we actually end up waiting all day in Draper for a trailer)
May 27: We really leave for Muddy Creek/California
May 28: Go down Muddy Creek, start driving (2 separate vehicles) to California. We spend all night in the vans, sleeping and driving.
May 29: We arrive in Weldon, 5 minutes before Troy's Eagle Court of Honor begins.
May 30-June 3: Hang out in California, visit the Newport Beach Temple, and Tyson does constant car work on a 15 passenger van
June 4: Drive back to Utah from California, again in 2 separate vehicles (at least we weren't the drivers this time)
June 5: Pack up for the John Day River
June 6: Drive to the John Day River. Other person/shuttle driver informs us that she is not coming as we are driving.
June 7-10: Go down the John Day River with just the 5 of us. Have so much fun. Hitchhike back to van.
June 11: Drive back to Utah. Stop in Twin Falls and Hammett to visit family/friends on the way back, and also do a session in the Twin Falls Temple.
June 12: Rest and go to church. Drop off Tyson in Draper on the way to a relative's baby blessing in Provo.
June 13: Tyson leaves with Donny and Troy for the Arkansas River (in Colorado)
June 14-16: Tyson is on the Arkansas, and starts driving back to Utah through the night
June 17: Tyson leads a group down the Colorado River (in Moab, Utah)
June 18: Tyson gets back. . . I know there was something else that happened this day, but it's not coming to me right now.
June 19: Rest
June 20: Spend day in Draper getting stuff for the Little Grand Canyon/San Juan River.
June 21: Tyson and a friend do the Little Grand Canyon--my parents and kids and I didn't go because there was a sign about a fallen tree, but it turned out that the water was so high we could have gone around it. Oh well. Camp in Moab.
June 22: Go to Monticello Temple, put in on San Juan River.
June 22-25: Go from Sand Island to Mexican Hat on the San Juan. On the 25 we wait all day for a friend to show up and do the shuttle. Camped at Mexican Hat.
June 26-30: Mexican Hat to Clay Hills on San Juan River. Drive to Colorado.
July 1: Tyson's birthday. We spend the whole day trying to take out the transmission in Colby's car (Colby is Tyson's brother) that he ripped in half when he drove over a rock on his honeymoon in April.
July 2: More car time. Serious stress for Cambria while trying to entertain 3 kids in the middle of nowhere while assisting Tyson.
July 3: Rest
July 4: Spent the whole day, once again, working on Colby's car. Got a new transmission in. We caught some glimpses of fireworks in the car as we drove back to Tyson's aunt's to spend the night.
July 5: Finally finished Colby's car (it was close, we almost left it in Colorado. Miracles still happen). Drove back to Utah in two vehicles (Colby's and ours). Dropped Tyson off in Price so he could meet Donny and Alyssa (at 11pm) there to help out with another river.
July 6-8: Tyson helps out on Desolation Canyon on the Green River (Utah).
July 9: I pick up Tyson in Draper, since someone (nameless person for time being) dropped our van keys in the river and they couldn't bring it back. Go to Nauvoo Reunion for Tyson.
July 10: Celebrated Tyson's birthday since we didn't do it on the actual day.
July 11: Tyson, Donny, and Alyssa drove back to pick up our van with a new key.
July 12: Hung out at Cambria's parents house. This is the 8th day Tyson actually spends in a non-river setting with his family since leaving Colorado 2 months earlier.
July 13-14: Tyson and Cambria take someone down the Little Grand Canyon (San Rafael River).
July 15-18: Went to midnight showing of Harry Potter. SOOOOO fun to spend time together! Tyson spends a few more precious days with his family. Go to Dinosaur Park (a pretty amazing place nearby, I never knew how cool it was).
July 19: Tyson goes to Draper to do more river stuff; turns out he just gets to work on another vehicle for the day ;-)
July 20: Hang out with family
July 21: Works on Provo River, but gets to spend a few hours with family in the evening.
It's been a crazy, wild ride. It feels like there's been nothing but working on rivers and cars for Tyson almost all summer. He was supposed to be in California this week doing another river, but because he's been gone so much, he thankfully traded with Donny and is just working a few days on the Provo, and we still get to see him in the evenings ;-)
We have a zillion pictures from all the traveling we've done (we put over 5,000 miles on our van in less than 2 months since Tyson put the new engine in May 17) but I'm just going to put some pictures of what we did today, without any traveling. Bliss.
Sorry, pics. Blogger is being lame. Maybe later. For now, it's time for BED!
