Project 52 Update


Here is a small update on my progress for goals of the year. Several of these goals deserve their own post (and I'm working on some of them) but here is the brief update:

Project 52: 2012
1. Read the New Testament--making good progress
2. Read the Book of Mormon--making good progress
3. Make something with a sewing machine -- 3 nursing covers, rice bags, small blankets. . .I think I exceeded this goal!
4. Re-do the kids closet --I was going to do more with this, but since we sold our house (more on that later), I bagged the rest of my plans to make it look nicer
5. Teach Jeffrey to read--working on it. Since the end of last year he's been able to tell me what letter words start with (i.e. he'll say, "Sink starts with s s  'S'!" but he has a difficult time putting sounds together. No rush though.)
6. Try making home-made yogurt, 2 different recipes (crockpot and stove)
7. Try homemaking binder
8. Listen to all of Michel Thomas' French CDs
9. Read 25 books: Daughters in my Kingdom, Parenting with Love and Logic, Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood, The Entitlement Trap, Pope Joan, Money Saving Mom's Budget, Moon Over Manifest, The Messenger, Hypnobirthing
10. Learn Hypnobirthing
11. Go to at least 3 Zumba classes this year, try it out
12. Have 10 cloth diapers for the new baby, try them out
13. Keep doing budget, pay off amount in loans 
14. Try out Pinterest (I never have), and do at least 3 things I pin from it
15. One new recipe each month (4/12) January-Vegetable Lover's Baked Ziti; February-Stuffed Shell Pasta; March-Calzones; April-Crockpot Enchiladas
16. Go to 2 new Temples this year
17. Do an outdoor activity with the family each month (3/12) January--Mesa Verde, February--didn't happen, March--small hikes and bike rides, April--more small hikes
18. 6 out-of-house dates with Tyson (we are great about doing different stay-home dates, but more out of the house ones would be fun)
19. Take "butterfly" class--not started
20. Take "parenting" class--almost done (but won't finish by the end of this month)
21. Go to the YMCA at least 2x, try it out (and still going)
22. Make cuisine from other countries 2x
23. Start blog and take blogging class--do at least 12 posts 
24. Family blog posts 2x per month--So far so good!
25. Finish Jacob's baby book
26. Do Joy School with Jeffrey with other family
27. Start teaching Amri to read by the end of the year
28. Get Jeffrey and Amri 100% out of diapers before baby comes (they are totally potty trained, and have been for MONTHS, but they still wear diapers to bed most of the time. . . we'll see how this goes)--this is off and on, depending on how many wet beds happen!
29. Prepare for my Church calling during the week (Primary Chorister--I'm doing better)
30. Make coupon binder
31. Take kids pictures (the hang-on-the-wall kind) myself with new camera
32. Cross-stitch at least once a month (4/12)--YES!
33. Get a nice new family picture this year
34. Finish mission scrapbook
35. Sing with kids (music time) at least once a week for 20 minutes--getting better at this one
36. Choose happiness
37. Clean bathroom tub at least once a month (2/12)
38. Do another family trip, at least 3 days, with just our family
39. Call each brother each week
40. Have personal morning prayers every day for at least 2 weeks solid
41. Support Tyson 1 hour each week with school stuff (helping him find Cliff notes, etc, for the huge list of books he has to read) --almost done!
42. Make something for baby -- small silky blanket
43. For one month, speak in Spanish 1 hour each day
44. Have a planning meeting with Tyson each week (need to work on this one)
45. Attend Temple 10 times this year (1/10)
46. Be back to pre-pregnancy weight by November
47. Exercise at least 1 hour a week (chasing the kids around doesn't count ;)
48. Family service project each month (4/12)
49. Scripture story with kids daily (we do at least a verse of scripture with them every day, but I want to do more with scripture stories)--doing a lot more with the kids and scriptures
50. Nightly personal planning meeting--getting better at this
51. Learn basic HTML
52. Personal portrait (explanation later)
